BRIEF HISTORY OF AGS DAWAR GUREZ

 

                Army Goodwill School Dawar was established on 1 May 2004 in the remote Gurez Valley to provide quality education to children living in the border region. The school was formally inaugurated in March 2005 by Lt Gen Hari Prasad and Mrs Hari Prasad.

 The school began with only 38 students in UKG and Class I and just two teachers. Over the years, it expanded steadily due to increasing enrolment and community support. It was upgraded from a primary school to a middle school and later to a secondary school, providing education from LKG to Class X.

AGS Dawar is run under the Indian Army’s Operation Sadhbhanava initiative and aims to bring quality education to children in remote and border areas. The school follows the JKBOSE curriculum with English as the medium of instruction and emphasizes academics, discipline, sports, and overall personality development.

Today, AGS Dawar is recognized as one of the leading educational institutions in Gurez, serving hundreds of students and contributing significantly to the educational and social development of the valley.
